Default Faster Startup?

I notice that the startups on my computers take quite a while, and I read something about changing the list of applications starting up by using "msconfig" from the run menu.

I think I know how to do that, but I'm not sure which apps are okay to close down and which should be left running. When I look at the list of what's running on startup, I don't recognize all of the items.

Does anyone here have any guidelines for this? - Thanks...

Well as it gets older the windows goes slower and slower , ussually it goes by reinstalling it , but if i understood well, you want to control the aplication that start themselves on startup you can do it so:
Go to My Computer then : C:\Documents And Settings\USER ACCOUNT NAME\Start Menu\Programs\Startup , And you simply delte the aplications you dont want to start on startup. You can get a little moore info about that on microsoft's site at this link : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...s/autorun.mspx

Thanks for the info, ricky.

So far, I've stopped the HP Printer software from starting up when I start the computer, and I think that's helped a little.

I'll look into it more and see what else I can part with on startup.

sometimes the cause of a slow start up is that you C 's memory is full...and it needs to read it while youa re turning it on..in your case i think you had to do some configuration thing since its it says misconfig..
