Here's a little trick that was shared with me that sped my computer up significantly. (If you like to use the search button on your computer a lot, you probably shouldn't do this). You can turn of your indexing which will improve XP times. Just go to your "my computer" and open it, now right click on your hard drive icon and select the bottom option that says "properties". Now in the little popup that opens you will see a chart and some other things, look at the very bottom and you will see a check box that has "Allow for indexing services to index the disc for fast file searching". If you uncheck that box and select apply, reboot your system and this should instantly give you a bit more speed. I am only posting the information, I do not recommend anyone do this unless they are certain they know what they are doing and the consequences that may follow. For me, it worked like a charm!
