From what i know and experienced, windows vista has many incompatibility issues, i still choose windows XP until now coz lots of hardware and software supports it. And now the release of Windows 7 (microsoft's new OS) is going to be released soon... Is Windows 7 really that better? compared to windows XP and Vista.

When Windows Vista was first released, it had a lot of problems regarding compatibility with a lot of programs. But I think that is being resolved since Vista's been out in the market for quite some time now. Personally I still prefer XP because I'm more familiar with it. :P I also have problems using my friend's laptop because she running on Vista.

I have 0 compatibility issues with Vista, but i keep the latest software and build a new PC every 6 months. New systems should have no problems, the older PCs souled stick with XP. I tried putting Vista on a older laptop a while back, what a nightmare.

Well I hate Vista..
I am using it in the office.
I really hate the "security features".
I don't have an admin access in my workstation, but I sometimes need to access ODBC.
And I can't access it! =(
While my other office mates are using XP, and they don't have that problem.

I am not sure how exactly they differ... but I've been using Vista in my laptop... and I don't like it. I just don't have choice.

XP is great for a low end system
Vista is for enthusiasts. Although its a memory hog, it is prettier than xp and has aero that has glass-like effects on windows. This is retained on the new Win 7 operating system but has a new taskbar.
