I do it twice ever 6 months due to speed problems when there are too much data on the primary partition that can hinder performance especially in gaming. How about you, how often do you reformat your PC?

I reformat my pc only when it got a virus...hehehe...coz i dont know how to do it...i only hired a comp technician...

I also do it every 6 months unless my computer suffers from a unrepairable system problem then that is also the time I reformat my machine. formatting is always my last option when repairing my system.

I've only had my current XP system reformatted once at the shop after having a hard drive fail.

I used to reformat my old Windows 95 computer a few times to start from scratch when things got out of hand.

By the way, how often do you guys defrag?

I reformat every 6 months or so. That's about how often my computer gets unbearably slow. It's about that time now.

Not as often as I should. I usually only defrag every 2 - 3 months.

6 months would be the most recommend time span before you format your computer. frequently formatting your hd can sometimes cause damage to your disk.

I have a 1 1/2 year old computer and never been reformatted since I purchase this machine. I think I should call my tech my to reformat my computer

I have a 2 year old desktop. I think it has been reformatted 6-7 times i don't remember. I also have a 1 year old laptop and it's reformatted twice already.

I used to format around 6 mounths but now i need as much speed i can get so i do it every 2 mounths , but not a complete one , i keep my documents , i didn't full formated since...5 years it's not necesarry to delete my documents to work faster i just defrag them but even so i really need them so i wouldn't delete them anyways
