I just remove the link from the tracking ball with my fingers, so far.

I do that when I notice it getting dirty. I don't think I've had a problem with the performance of the mouse, aside from the one that just wore out mechanically.

I'm using an optical mouse. I'm cleaning it using an cotton swap. Then the bottom of the mouse I'm wiping ti with a piece of cotton with alcohol. Aside from cleaning my mouse I also cleane my mouse pad.

I use a wet cotton and simply clean the track ball and the mouse.

If it's an old style mechanical mouse (with a ball), take the ball out and use your fingernails to scrape the gunk of the rollers.

For the keyboard, use your vacuum cleaner. If you have attachments, all the better, but as long as you have a hose and hold it close, you'll get a lot of stuff out.
