Laptop modding can be done, such that they look like a typical computer case.while most laptop mods consists of new paint and finishes, others choose to engrave out designs on laptop covers (Behind the screens).

Some of the case modding type may typically void the warranty of the device, and bring warranty issues, so Id suggest, skins or stickers be bought, that are easily removable from the case, especially for the laptop modding.

Ok to actually ANSWER your question, unlike the first person... a hole saw is the best way to go about doing it. Or, you can use a hole drilling attachment on a power drill. You just go to Home Depot or your local hardware store and buy the appropriate sized cutter (80mm or whatever you need). What material is your case? This makes a difference when selecting the cutter. Never use a wood cutting hole saw on aluminum or steel, you will shred up the blade and I have seen pieces fly into people's faces before.
As for the screw holes, just match up a drill bit to the size screw you want to hold the fans in with, and drill away. I usually lightly pencil the case before drilling any holes.
Of course, I have to say this, be safe when doing this, wear protective glasses!

Well, there are a lot of things you can theme a case mod after. Sometimes the crazy functional abilities of a case mod are as important as visual appeal.

I am in the process of fitting a VIA PX10000 into a cd drive case along with a smaller cd drive, microdrive and various components. It doesn't look very cool on the outside, but the fact that you can run a seemingly empty, and unplugged, computer case with only a CD drive is pretty awesome. Generally small motherboards are good for case mods, unless you are just looking for a themed ATX case

My first case - I mod it myself. I put X sign then draw a lot of graffiti. It's fun, though its kinda expensive.
