AMD has fallen behind Intel lately as far as raw performance. I still use AMD in my HTPC builds though

I usually use Intel. I have tried to use AMD, but I have noticed a slight decrease in performance.

I was told AMD is much better when overclocked. The drawback is you need a very good cooling system. Is this true? I plan to buy a new desktop for video editing and I'm trying to decide between Intel and AMD.

I still prefer Intel.
I have used AMD before and I was not satisfied with its performance.

Actually you still AMD as a cheater alternative doesn't give that much good performance. But, if you do a little tweaks or sort of upgrade it on your own, you'll find it really good. We've tried it.

Every processor that you overclock requires a very good cooling system or else your cpu will be toast. I recommend Intel for video editing purposes.

Well yea , AMD did fall behind intel lately , but i think it's been alot of time since AMD got a new overcloacking record with Phenom 2 that is known to be the #1 quad core procesor in the world right now.Well i myself had about 2 intel processors and 3 AMD's , and i can say i liked the AMD's moore even if the diffrence between them isn't very noticeble at first in overcloacking the AMD's work better, and as for the cooling issue, normal intel procesors work at 20-30 C Temperatures while AMD goes upper over to 60 C , my last AMD procesor a 3500+ Athlon worked just fine at 113 C but after 120 it shut itself down , but it still work after it cooled down, even if its max temperature it has been declared around 60-70 C, while my Pentium 4 Intel 2,99 gHz got toasted at 50 C and never worked again, so from my own experience i can say i preffer the AMD's over the Intels
